WINNER 2010 Guild of Food Writers - Derek Cooper Award for Campaigning and Investigative Food Writing
The Rough Guide to Food was published in March 2009 (Penguin UK).

Katharine Reeve I’ve been cooking since I was five (mainly cake) and grown my own vegetables intermittently since the age of nine (living in Norfolk and later Devon). I was an early organic vegetable box adopter and am a big fan of Riverford‘s boxes and their Field Kitchen). My idea of a good weekend is tracking down small producers and new food markets and then cooking with my food haul; my idea of a bad weekend is peering in other people’s shopping trolleys and scouring supermarket shelves for the latest food industry nasty. My co-author, George Miller, and I wanted to write The Rough Guide to Food to tell the true story of the food we eat now: the good and the bad.
I love cooking especially cakes and puddings – but vegetables, preserves and fish too. I sometimes hold children’s cookery classes for my daughter and her friends – these are always far more successful than I would have thought – not too noisy and they seem to be pretty good about not smearing chocolate everywhere.
I’ve worked as a non-fiction editor in publishing for over fifteen years and now write and edit freelance (books and digital content). I review and write for The Times Higher, and write for BBCFood, The Times, Futurebook. I also run a Publishing course at Bath Spa University and have just set up a new Food Writing and Editing course there. I believe in portfolio careers – variety is the spice of life after all – and also consult on social media strategy.
I live in Bath – arguably the loveliest city in the UK – where I enjoy lounging around in my favourite cafes or twittering or both.
